Sandtrooper in my garage

Day 1

Cutting out the frown

My first mistake

Aerators

Some more small bits

Masking off for paint

The front of the bucket

The side of the bucket

Day 2- Day 2 actually started off with Azman and Cal (HUGE thanks!) coming over and helping me test fit my armor.  No pics of that- sorry.  Also, it was freezing in my un-heated garage, so work time was limited- severally limited...

Riveting the webbing

Another view

Cutting the ab plate-
 plus Sandtrooper mod

Cutting the back plate

Day 3

 straps

Forearms and biceps-
 riveted and glued

Thighs and lower legs-
 riveted and glued

Clips going into the dome- front clips modified for specs

Day 4

 legs

I messed up on the shims for the thighs and lower legs and glued the shims on top of the under piece.  Don't do this...

Day 7- a very short day

The upper arms
 assembly

On the chest plate

Upper torso finished!

Day 8

Piece used to connect
 the split abs and back

The connector on
the upper ab and back

Snaps on the cod
and bum

Snaps on the thighs

Leg belt attached

A trick from Cal-
A wire loop on the ear
 piece to better hold the
 small grey box

Day 9

Ab/Back harness

And here is how it works

The back pieces
together again

The front pieces-
 showing rivet
 placement

Hard to see, but here are the loops for the inner belt- part of the harness system

The dome ears
being glued

Hand guards together

Trying to make the
 lower legs velcro
 mesh better

I am not at all happy with the way the connector I came up with works.  It's too rigid and may not give me any more waist flexibility than if I left the pieces whole.  We'll see...

So, you may have noticed that the leg shims are messed up- both on the thigh pieces and the lower legs.  Yeah, I really blew that one.  The problem was, my legs are pretty big and when I thought I'd got it sorted, I found the shims didn't work.  I was also running out of spare ABS.  This is the first time I've been annoyed that I still have my huge sprinters legs.

Day 10

The helmet nearly
 finished

And the back

The sniper plate

Additional snaps
on the thighs

The first coat of
 weathering

And on the forearms

After drying and
wiping down

So, my camera broke.  I had a bunch of great pictures of some new DEVO items, and when I went to check them out again, I got the message that my memory card was empty.  I took a few more pictures, and found that they were just not saving at all... so...  Yeah, hopefully a new camera is in my future, and I'll go back and take pictures of the few things I did to finish up.  Bummer...
